What is The Blue Economy?

The Blue Economy is a new way of designing business: responding to the basic needs of all with the resources available. In a system, where the waste of one product becomes the input to create a new cash flow (=cascading nutrients and energy), the good becomes cheap and generates jobs, builds social capital and increases income – for everyone.

What is The World Congress on Zero Emissions Initiatives?

The World Congress on Zero Emissions Initiatives – Launching "The Blue Economy" was held September 13-17, 2010 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center in Honolulu and focused on the design of an economic system driven by innovations, generating jobs and building social capital. The Blue Economy is based upon
one hundred plus breakthroughs in businesses that have proven their competitiveness. The innovations relate to Energy, Food, Health, Housing, Transportation, Water and Waste, and how these innovations integrate and provide new job opportunities in today’s changing world.

The Blue Economy Alliance is an international network of companies, innovators, scientists and like-minded practitioners, experienced in implementing visions into reality. The Blue Economy Alliance provides open source access to develop, share and implement prosperous business models that strive to improve natural ecosystems and the quality of life for all.

Enterprise Honolulu is the USA representative for The Blue Economy Alliance.

The vision of The Blue Economy is to strive for a (blue) zero emissions world by 2050.
