Honolulu offers a Healthy Climate for Quality Health Care.
Health care in Honolulu is acknowledged amongst the best in the
nation. Honolulu's clean air, quality drinking water, and mild climate
naturally provide a healthful environment. The state's two largest
health maintenance care plans, Kaiser Permanente and Health Plan
Hawaii offered by HMSA (a Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate) consistently
earn excellent accreditation for quality of care from the National
Council on Quality Assurance (NCQA), America's leading health care
quality assurance organization.
Eight major hospitals serve the residents of Honolulu and Hawaii's
military personnel. Hawaii has more physicians per capita than the
U.S. overall, ranking 9th with 2.5 physicians per 1,000 residents.
Hawaii also has more dentists per capita than the national average
at 0.82 per 1,000 than the U.S. with 0.55.
Honolulu is one of the few cities to have gamma knife technology
readily available. And as the healthcare headquarters for much of
the Pacific, Hawaii is leading telemedicine initiatives to bring
health care technology and services to remote Pacific islands. Interest
in holistic and alternative healing sciences from Asian, Hawaiian,
and Western cultures continues to grow among Hawaii's residents
and visitors.
The University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, Cancer
Research Center of Hawaii, Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii Pacific
Health Research, Queens Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente are leading
research initiatives in biomedical research, medical technology,
drug clinical trials, disease prevention, and treatment protocols.

Hawaii Health Care Business Incubator - is a privately
funded service oriented enterprise which supports existing and start-up
healthcare ventures, the important combination of physical space
and equipment and business counseling services, in an environment
