In spite of the 1990's recession that lead to slow economic growth
in Hawaii, Honolulu continues to be an smart location for fresh
business ventures due to its strategic mid-pacific location, time

workforce, advanced telecommunication infrastructure, escalating
technology leadership, growing venture capital funds and angel financing,
exceptional research facilities, state-of-the-art business and technology

Facilitated through a superb partnership between the public and

Each year business, professional and governmental organizations
take advantage of Honolulu's excellent location to hold their most
important events here. Ideally positioned in the center of the Pacific
Rim, Honolulu is well served by major airlines. It is a meeting
place for organizations that seek to broaden representation from
Asia and the Pacific.
Occupying 2,216 acres of land as well as 2,210 acres of water,
Honolulu International Airport is located about three miles west
of Downtown Honolulu, and seven miles from Waikiki. The airfield
consists of two parallel crosswind runways, two parallel east-west
runways, associated taxiways and navigational aids. Facilities include
a complex of air cargo, general aviation, and the passenger terminal
complex at the North Ramp and airport support facilities at the
south Ramp near Ke'ehi Lagoon. Located west of the terminal complex
is a complex of maintenance and air cargo facilities, principally
for the inter island airlines.
Honolulu International Airport is the major aviation gateway for
the State of Hawaii. It is the primary hub for domestic overseas
and inter-island flights and is currently one of three State airports
accommodating international flights. Honolulu International also
functions as a joint military-civilian airport sharing airfield
facilities with Hickam Air Force Base.
